Already Qualified. Still Not Happy With Your Diving?
Improve shutdowns, trim, buoyancy, propulsion, stage handling, ascent control, decompression planning and team problem solving with focused one-to-one or small-team coaching.
Certification Is Not the Same as Mastery
Many divers reach a technical qualification and then discover that some parts of their diving still feel unreliable. A shutdown may work in a demonstration but fall apart when task-loaded. Trim may disappear during an ascent. Back-kicking may be inconsistent. Stage handling may disrupt buoyancy. Deco planning may feel like following a recipe rather than understanding the dive.
That does not automatically mean you need to repeat an entire course. Technical coaching lets us isolate the problem, work out why it is happening and rebuild the skill around your current diving, equipment and goals.
Fix the Part of Your Diving That Is Holding Everything Else Back
Coaching can be broad or extremely specific. Some divers need a complete reset of their platform. Others need two or three hours focused almost entirely on one weak skill.
Not Sure What Is Actually Going Wrong?
Start with a Technical MOT. We look at the diver as a complete system rather than assuming the visible symptom is the real problem.
Shutdowns Are Usually Not Just a Flexibility Problem
Divers often assume they cannot reach their valves because of shoulder flexibility. Sometimes that is true. But reach can also be affected by harness fit, cylinder height, posture, trim, drysuit inflation, weighting and the way the shutdown is being attempted. We work through the entire system rather than simply telling you to stretch harder.
Reach
Check whether the problem is physical, equipment-related or procedural.
Stability
A shutdown is only useful if you can maintain depth, trim and awareness while performing it.
Sequence
Build a repeatable process so the response remains usable under stress.
Team Context
Understand what your teammate should be doing while the problem is being managed.
Stop Fighting the Configuration
Sidemount can feel exceptionally clean when the system is fitted to the diver. It can also become frustrating when cylinder position, harness geometry, bungees, weighting and hose routing are fighting each other.
Coaching can focus on configuration alone or combine configuration changes with buoyancy, trim, propulsion, cylinder handling and multi-cylinder procedures.
Discuss Sidemount CoachingBeen Out of Technical Diving for a While?
A refresher is useful before returning to decompression diving after a layoff, changing equipment configuration, moving from warm-water to UK diving, or simply when you know your procedures are no longer automatic. We can rebuild the core platform before adding complexity back into the dive.
Core Control
Buoyancy, trim, propulsion and positioning before task loading.
Emergency Skills
Shutdowns, gas sharing, failures and appropriate team responses.
Deco Procedures
Gas switches, ascent discipline, stops and decompression logistics.
Planning Reset
Gas planning, reserves, contingencies and current personal procedures.
Custom Dates. Custom Objectives.
There is no fixed public calendar for coaching. Send us your current qualification, approximate dive experience, configuration and a candid description of what you are struggling with.
We will recommend whether you need a coaching day, a Technical MOT, multiple development sessions or a formal course. The objective is to solve the problem rather than sell you training you do not need.

Once the core platform is reliable, we can help you progress into twinset, sidemount, Intro to Tech, decompression procedures, Helitrox, Trimix, CCR and professional-level training through the wider Van Overbeek Technical team.
