Our Approach

Learn to Dive — Not Just Pass a Course

Certification matters. Becoming a comfortable, capable and confident diver matters more.

Our approach develops genuine underwater ability: buoyancy, trim, propulsion, awareness, equipment familiarity and strong diving habits from the beginning.

We want new divers to leave training wanting to dive — and feeling confident enough to keep doing it.

Questions

Scuba Training FAQs

A few of the questions we are most often asked by people starting or continuing their diving.

Do I need any experience before learning to scuba dive?
No. You can start as a complete beginner. A Try Dive is a good way to experience scuba first, but you can also begin an Open Water course without doing a Try Dive beforehand.
Which scuba training agency should I choose?
You do not need to decide that before contacting us. Our team can offer training through BSAC, RAID, SDI, TDI and PADI, so we can recommend the route that best fits your goals, existing qualifications and availability.
How long does it take to become a qualified diver?
That depends on the course, your availability and how the training is scheduled. We offer planned course dates as well as flexible options, and we will explain the expected timetable before you book.
Do I need to buy scuba equipment before my course?
Not necessarily. Equipment requirements vary by course. We can explain what is provided, what you may need and what is worth buying at your stage of training before you spend money unnecessarily.
Can I learn to dive if I am nervous about scuba?
Yes. Many new divers are apprehensive at first. Our training is progressive and instructor-led, with an emphasis on becoming comfortable and confident rather than rushing through skills.
Do you teach Drysuit and Nitrox courses?
Yes. Drysuit and Nitrox are two of our core continuing-education options and are particularly useful for divers who want to dive regularly in the UK.
Can you provide Advanced and Rescue Diver training?
Yes. We offer continuing education including advanced and rescue-level training, and can help you choose the most appropriate progression route rather than simply adding certifications.
Can I continue into technical or instructor training later?
Yes. The team is backed by Van Overbeek Technical, giving access to advanced recreational, technical, CCR, instructor and technical-instructor level training if you decide to progress further.

Still unsure what you need? Tell us where you are starting from and what you would like to do.
