Cold-water design, not cold-water hopeful

Forged from brass and protected by an impact-resistant over-moulded endcap, the first stage is built to harvest warmth and reject cold. Heat-exchange ribs and a ribbed diaphragm clamp pull ambient water temperature back into the system to help defeat freeze-induced free-flows — making this a legitimate all-season choice for UK divers, from winter shore entries to inland sites below 10°C.

Depth where performance isn’t tested — it’s proven

The unique over-balanced diaphragm ramps up hose gas pressure faster than surrounding water pressure rises on descent. The result is smoother airflow, dependable stability and confident work-of-breathing at the depths where other regs start feeling the strain.

Hose routing done properly

Five medium pressure ports, including a protected 5th 3/8" UNF port with bumper guard, are fed via a parallel-mounted rotating turret, letting hoses sit clean, logical and snag-free. Dual angled high-pressure ports optimise alignment for compact transmitters and tidy routing for dive electronics from Oceanic. A double-swivel primary hose at both 1st and 2nd stage liberates head movement, reduces torque, and keeps fatigue and mouth-pull to a minimum.

Backup breathing power that’s actually fit for purpose

The XTX 2nd stage uses a balanced poppet valve for stable, low-effort inhalation, a glove-friendly self-flushing purge, and elastomer bumpers to protect impact zones during transport, entries, shutdown drills and real expedition use. The octopus carries the same cold-certified pedigree, tested to EN250A levels, meaning your redundant air source is more than a token add-on — it’s a fully qualified lifesaver, ready for donation.

Safer breathing, longer dives

Jaw fatigue is dramatically reduced thanks to the trusted Comfo-Bite mouthpiece. The nylon braided hose stays flexible and flow-efficient in cold water, unlike traditional rubber alternatives. Infection-killing additives are moulded into key components to keep bacteria, viruses and fungi at bay. Cold is scrubbed by a patented heat exchanger that wraps the valve mechanism, constantly recycling thermal performance back into your breathing loop.
